September Oven of the Month- Matthew Standerson

Hello Stone Bakers! Welcome to September’s oven of the month, and the winner is Matthew Standerson’s Primo 60 Go!

We think Matthew’s elegant brick stand is the perfect compliment to the sleek Primo 60 oven, and his garden is looking pizza party ready! We love the string lights to brighten up the evenings and we certainly are jealous of the amazing views Matthew has whilst cooking in his oven!

Here’s what Matthew has to say about his Stone Bake experience:

“We absolutely love the Primo60 oven and are using it whenever possible. It really compliments and completes our garden and has given us an excuse to get friends and family round more often.

At present we are still perfecting our pizza making skills but have plans to expand our repertoire as soon as possible.

As well as the product I’d like to say thank you for the excellent customer service throughout. From providing advice before we actually ordered, making the ordering process straight forward, and liaising with us to sort delivery.

We had been looking into getting a pizza oven for a while and after a lot of research online we decided that the Stone Bake Oven Company was the best option both for the actual product and, based on reviews and testimonies from customers, the service and support offered. This proved to be the correct decision with all my questions and queries answered promptly.

We decided on the Primo60 oven as we loved the sleek design and striking look. We did not want to build-in the oven and again its simplicity was perfect.

The oven is a fantastic focal point for our garden and a great excuse to spend time outdoors and get people together, plus the pizzas taste great! We have even experimented with cooking a joint of pork in the oven with great results – especially the crackling!

We have parties lined up into the autumn and hope to use it as much as possible all year round.”

April Oven of the Month- Mike & Tina Heathman- Primo 60

This month our April oven of the month is Mike and Tina Heathman’s Primo 60 Go oven. Not only is it taking pride of place in their awesome garden area, it’s clear the whole family are making excellent use of it cooking up an absolute storm! As seen in the photos below, the Heathman’s have been adventurous with their wood fired cooking ventures and alongside lots of delicious looking pizzas, they’ve also tried out baked camembert and chestnuts to name a few! Here’s what the Heathman’s had to say about their oven:

“We absolutely love our oven, it’s one of the best purchases we’ve ever made – a great way of getting all the family together! Thanks so much to the team at The Stone Bake Oven Company for their excellent customer service throughout the order and delivery process!

We haven’t been too adventurous yet – starting with roasted chestnuts (we did get the oven at Christmas!) & pizzas but looking forward to trying some seafood soon. First mackerel & lobster caught this week so hope to try those soon!

It’s safe to say the family love it and never say no to the offer of coming round when the oven’s fired up- the men also love it – like a BBQ the fire draws them like a moth!

We hope to use it even more now the lighter, milder nights are here.”

January Oven of the Month- Adrian Green

We couldn’t wait to kick off 2017 with our latest of oven of the month- it really is a stunner!

Adrian Green’s Mezzo 76 oven is our deserving January winner- we simply fell in love with his fantastic outdoor set-up. Not only has his garden area been beautifully and carefully designed, he’s also shown that you do not need a big garden to have a pizza oven- you simply need to make the most of the space you’ve got! There’s no stopping Adrian and his wife Elizabeth, they’ve already got a whole host of recipes under their belt- just check out those mouth-watering dishes they’ve been cooking.

Read below Adrian’s lovely words about his experience with The Stone Bake Oven Company and hear how he’s been getting on with his Mezzo 76.

Our Stone Bake Oven Journey

“My wife Elizabeth, and I, having dabbled in the art of wood fired ovens in the form of a small, metal portable version, decided we really wanted to take this outdoor cooking experience to the next level. After much online research, we were enticed by the Mezzo 76 from the Stone Bake Oven Company and could not be happier with it!

As it was summertime and we were eager to use it “straight out of the box”, we ordered the oven plus it’s metal stand which allowed us to site the oven immediately without the need for any complex building in. Communications from the Stone Bake team prior to delivery were first rate, letting us know exactly what to expect and when to expect it. Packaging of the oven components was extremely good for its long road journey north and everything arrived safe and sound, exactly as planned.

The metal stand and base sections took no time at all for two people to assemble, and once we’d watched the handy video online and mustered two or three friends to help us lift the dome into place, we were ready to cook..

And cook, we did! A family pizza party was held that same night, with the results far-exceeding anything we had produced so far. In an instant, the oven become the centerpiece of all our summer outdoor entertaining. Most weekends saw us firing up, but experimenting not just with different pizza recipes, but also really testing the Mezzo 76 to its limits. Anything that can be cooked in a conventional oven can be cooked (even better) in a wood fired oven (with a little practice). Our non-pizza menus have so far included:

  •    – Bistecca Fiorentina
  •    – Roast beef with roast potatoes and roasted vegetables
  •    – Slow cooked curry
  •    – BBQ belly pork and homemade Boston baked beans
  •    – Fruit crumble
  •    – Homemade bread

and the list is still growing with each week that passes.

We were so impressed with our oven and what other Stone Bake owners had created with theirs, that by Autumn, we had decided to transform our modest-sized garden and place the Mezzo 76 at the very heart of all that we do there. Here again, the Stone Bake team were extremely helpful. With us having no prior building experience, they very kindly supplied us with in-depth generic plans to build a suitable brick structure to incorporate our oven into. Local builder James Green (Homecare Property Services – find him on Facebook) then worked his construction magic, not only creating our fabulous oven complete with utensil table, but laying a wonderful, decorative seating area in front of it to really enhance our outdoor entertaining.

Bonfire Night 2016 saw the inaugural firing of our newly erected project. Not only did it produce some gorgeous bonfire party food, it also supplied heat, light and a focus for the guests once the fireworks had finished.

The Spring will see us complete this project, when we plan to insulate the dome to allow us to really get to grips with slow cooking etc.

All in all, the Mezzo 76 is a fabulous product, backed up by a great team that is Stone Bake Oven. Our Journey this year just shows you that wood ovens are not just for those with huge gardens – they can easily be enjoyed in smaller areas just as well. So, thinking of buying a quality wood fired oven? Then take that leap of faith and join the “Stone Bake Oven family” – you will NOT be disappointed!”

October Oven of the Month – John Jordan

imgp2407It’s already time for another oven of the month and our October winner is John Jordan’s fantastic Primo 60 Go! His gazebo set up not only looks bright and modern but it also means he can use his wood fired oven whatever the weather! A very worthy winner, thank you for sharing John!

Here’s what John had to say…

“We have used the oven most weeks since we installed it – even through the winter, when being under cover makes a big difference.  As you can see from the bunting – birthday and other parties are all pizza parties.  Sometimes, on an evening, Rosie and I fire up a couple of logs and just sit around the oven and enjoy the flames and warmth.

We cook kebabs and roast all sorts of vegetables in the oven after a round or two of pizzas.  Baked apples and pears are favourite puddings that also come out of the oven.

Our pizza dough has evolved and we now use an equal mix of bread flour, pasta flour and coarse semolina which give a crusty, rustic base.  With herbs growing around the ‘pizza parlour’ it is quick and easy to add a finish to the pizzas when they come out.

About Stone Bake – we have only compliments.  When we were not certain about buying the oven, you made us most welcome at your offices and took the time to explain all about the oven.  When it arrived, everything was fine as it was well packed.”

Here at Stone Bake HQ there’s nothing more we love than seeing our customers using and most importantly enjoying their oven.

July Oven of the Month- Claire Tripp

WP_20160720_18_35_12_Pro It’s the end of the month, which means it’s time for another Oven of the Month. This month’s winner is Claire Tripp with her gorgeous Primo 60 Go. We just can’t get enough of her outdoor eating space and we love the Mediterranean feel.  Claire’s blockwork stand has been rendered and painted to fit in with the rest of her garden- it really is the perfect combination of modern but authentic. Thank you for sharing with us Claire!

Here’s what Claire had to say…

“I had wanted a wood fired oven for years and did a lot WP_20160720_18_39_28_Proof research into the benefits of building one versus buying one already made. I chose to buy one as the heating up time is a lot shorter and I felt that we would use it more often. I looked at various different models and chose the Primo 60 because I liked the design better than the others.

Having a pizza oven in the garden has surpassed our expectations. It suits our small garden perfectly and has turned it into an outdoor room and a fantastic entertaining space. We use it every week for ‘Pizza Friday’ and had our first party last weekend, catering for 18 people. Several people left vowing to buy one for themselves. Our house is now definitely the place everyone wants to come to on a summer’s evening!”

We love nothing more at Stone Bake HQ than seeing our customers using and most importantly enjoying their oven.

March Oven of the Month- Marcus Jupe

Mezzo Pizza Oven Wood Fired Website Marcus Jupe 2Can you believe that it’s already time for oven of the month? Our March winner is Marcus Jupe’s Mezzo 76, which is taking pride of place in his outdoor garden area. We were super impressed with his fantastic stand and thought the simple design looks sleek and modern but still practical. What’s more, he certainly seems to have been cooking up a storm in his oven, telling us that he cooked 40 pizzas in one sitting- impressive or what? A worthy winner, thank you for sharing with us Marcus!

Here is what Marcus had to say:

“Thank you for choosing us as the oven of the month.

I originally started making lots of pizzas at home using a normal oven, and finally I decided I wanted one for the garden. When I told my friends that I was installing a Pizza oven in my garden, most of my friends’ responses were ‘Exactly how much Pizza are you going to eat?’  In truth, we started off going pizza mad, experimenting with different types of dough and trying out Stone Bake recipes.  We have gone on to use the oven for much more than just pizza. Some other great dishes are Lasagne Al Forno, great steaks have also been cooked in there, but probably the best dish is the 12 hour slow cooked pulled pork.

One of the best uses to date has been for my twin girls first birthday present, where I cooked pizza for all our guests.  I think I had pre rolled 30 – 40 pizza bases, and they all got used that day, most of the guests left with the thought of owing their own Stone Bake Pizza Oven.

We love using ours throughout the year; it even gets fired up during the depths of winter.  My in-laws love it so much that I have also purchased one for them.”
